17.3 million Streams in the US in three days

If you had any doubt last year that Beyonce changed how artists will be releasing albums, then I am sure by now your doubt has been removed. Over the past few months after queen B decided to surprise her fans with a brand new album there has been a number of artists who have jumped on the bandwagon, from Jcole to Kid Cudi, and the latest musician to follow suit is Drake. The Toronto born rapper announced his new mixtape album in a tweet which the rapper posted before midnight.

The mix tape album which is termed “If You’re reading This It’s Too Late” has shattered Spotify records in the US even surpassing his own record with Sportify of 15.8 million streams for his last album titled “Nothing Was Ever The Same.”

In its first week “If You’re reading This It’s Too Late” notched 17.3 million streams in just three days.

The album features 17 tracks of the Toronto based rapper and it has songs which the rapper has featured his best friend and young money CEO lil wayne, Travi$ Scott as well as PartyNextDoor.

In the US “If You’re reading This It’s Too Late” was streamed 6.8 million times during Valentine’s Day on Spotify despite the fact that the album is light on love songs and an impressive 22.2 million times globally.

Billboard sees Drake’s album moving over 500,000 units in its first week only.
